Firing on all cylinders

Fresh from the shed; the pulley hub for the supercharger. It was turned from a 57 mm piece of 316 stainless steel billet to 50 mm (the larger end) and 35 mm for the shaft.

Inserted into shaft are 2 magnets to trigger the firing point for the spark plugs (316 stainless is the only grade that’s close to non-magnetic so it does not interfere with the magnetic field.)

The south polarity magnet will turn the sensor pickup on and the north polarity magnet will turn the pickup off. This type of timing, known as the ‘Hall Effect’

It's going to provide a more accurate timing solution than the more traditional ‘inductive’ method.

A change in direction

So, here we go. 2015 we head to the Salt Flats of Utah. We are planning on coming home with a couple of records.

Our weapon..
A Moto Guzzi V350; super charged. Methanol feed nightmare built in a small shed in the hills west of Auckland.

This blog will document the planning and preparation.
