Standing on two feet

Progress! We are on the ground and its looking like a bike!

Started to template the gussets and the tank.

I want to keep the back none exposed so the tank will be two pieces; 1 fuel, 1 dumby- I think I will try to mount all the electrics in this one.

I've made a card board template then modelled it up in sketch up

I will mock it up in timber before I take it to the CNC table

Behind the eight ball

So this last week has been a struggle, but we pushed through today.
The plan was to mill the axle plates tack up the frame and get it on the ground.

Axle plates..... Some reason today the gods of the axle plates decided not to play ball, 4 attempts, 4 examples to the scrap bin.

It's dry July; I couldn't even reach for a beer to aid in the re group.

We pushed forward and took the frame out of the jig and mocked up the bike on a work bench.

I was going for low..... But I think this is way low

Rear guard, not staying. Just there for mock up purposes

Thinking about running a bobber seat this way

Bike will be running clip ons at this stage

Framing the picture

Saturday, frame in hand. The plan to have it all tacked up and on the ground.
The realities of bending tube by hand is that replicating it as a complete opposite requires a degree in metaphysics...

The plan has always been to reference a BMX, narrow top tube and fixed seat position into a rear wheel seat stay set up

Back in the frame jig, it was time to extend the back bone and lower tube.

Oversized tube was sleeved on and will be used to mount the lower engine mounts and the rear stays

Threaded rod at the rear of the jig outlines the rear axle height, the hub including spacers is approximately 230mm,  so it will further accentuate the narrowness of the bike when on the ground

Busy week at work this week, so next Saturday I plan to have it on the ground.
Will keep you all posted
